Cartridge World and Environmental Office Solutions have joined forces to roll out a new recycling program just in time for Earth Day, which allows customers and businesses to easily dispose of empty ink or toner cartridges.
Printer cartridges that are not recycled create a massive negative impact on the environment, as: It takes one gallon of oil to make a new laser cartridge; about 70 percent of used printer cartridges are currently being thrown out; over 75 percent of waste is recyclable, but we only recycle 30 percent of it; a laser cartridge thrown into a landfill can take up to 450 years to decompose – some take over 1,000 years; and, in one year, if the world’s discarded cartridges were stacked end-to-end, they would circle the earth over three times.
By giving customers easier access to recycling, Cartridge World and Environmental Office Solutions are providing a convenient solution to reduce waste and help the environment.
“Since our founding in 1997, Cartridge World has embraced sustainable practices. We felt we needed to increase our green efforts for a world that demands more attention. This program is a game changer,” explained Mark Pinner, CEO of Cartridge World North America. “Consumers are demanding more sustainability from brands, and we wanted to deliver. What has never changed in more than 20 years is our commitment to the environment, as we are proud to provide high-quality, premium remanufactured ink and toner cartridges from recycled components, along with solutions that reduce energy consumption.”
“We are so excited to partner with Cartridge World,” said Matt Coover, Senior Manager of Environmental Office Solutions. “With our seamless ink and toner cartridge disposal, we will be able to create the most convenient disposal solutions for their customers.”
The partnership with Environmental Office Solutions is the latest announcement from Cartridge World on green support. However, they assist in other ways as well. Cartridge World offers printer maintenance services to businesses to keep printers running and so they are not thrown out if they break. They also repair/fix printers to keep them out of landfill and reduce waste, as well as selling and placing new and refurbished printers – ensuring each is used to its maximum capacity. Finally, they place new machines that are more energy efficient and at no cost with the Why Buy a Printer Program.
Cartridge World adds that the company has for years also supported businesses and customers in tips and printing polices to reduce the amount of printing, paper usage and cartridge usage all reducing waste sent to landfill.
